2002 London Marathon (14th April 2002)

Nifty Nev ran  in the London Marathon and raised £668.43 to help our children.

"Phew! 4hours and 10 minutes - not bad for an old 'un. The atmosphere was incredible! - I think the crowds were the best ever this year, they just won't let you stop running. I had my nickname "Nifty Nev" on my T-shirt and the crowds were chanting "Nifty Nev" over and over which really helped me get to the finish. I was aiming to finish the marathon in 4 hours - but I'm very happy with the 4hrs 10 mins. Just running for Down's Syndrome Research, and thinking about little Emma, and other children with Down's helped to keep me going."

The total of money raised locally, by Nifty and friends was  £446.00

The DSRF website advertised the event and visitors to our website donated another £222.43 using our on-line credit and debit card facility.

Total funds raised by Nifty Nev in this marathon. ...... was £668.43

All of that money will be used to get medical research underway.

"You can continue to donate to DSRF - for good measure."

We  need sponsors for all of these special events and we need runners.

The London Marathon is held every April.  Other cities have similar events. T

If you have run for the DSRF please let us have your information to put on our website.

Everyone likes to see pictures so send these as well. Contact dsrf@dsrf.co.uk.

We are often asked if we have any places already purchased for various events.

Purchasing places in events is quite expensive costing several hundreds of pounds per entry, that cost has to be recovered from donations.  Runners have to guarantee they can get that kind of support.  Some events are so difficult to get places we have been buying some places.

It is best to apply direct for a Free Place and there are thousands of those free places. Apply to the event organizer and get an entry form, do it as early as possible, if you have a place and can't enter,  perhaps we can find a stand-in.

Send an email to  John@dsrf.co.uk  if you have any questions.
