TNI vs. Megavitamins vs. RDA

The Down's Syndrome Research Foundation only provides information on dietary supplement programs. We advise parents to work with their doctor and monitor the growth and the health of their child. The following information was obtained from published data. Check with the manufacturer for the latest information.

The MSB Plus dose rate we have shown is for children over age 8 and for adults. The dose rate is proportionately smaller for young children and for babies. Do not use TNI for babies under three months due to immature digestive system.
A PAEDIATRIC VERSION IS AVAILABLE.

MSB Plus Version 4 (Ingredients per 7.5 grams daily dose rate) NutriVene-D similar dose rate. Reduced dose rate for young children based on age and body weight.

Note:
Earlier and subsequent versions are also available. As well as custom "Targeted" versions based on blood and urine analysis of the patient.
All patients are advised to contact their doctor and have their child's health and growth rate monitored when using MSB Plus or NutriVene-D.

DAY TIME POWDER is taken as two half servings mornings and afternoons with food. Most parents mix the supplement with syrup (dilute ice cream topping) or a fruit drink to hide the taste of vitamins.

Circa 1998 These powders are now available in a "no taste" micro-encapsulated (coated) form.

All of the above are food supplements and should be taken with food or shortly after a meal.

Note (1):
Some foods will result in a very high intake of some vitamins. Liver which is accepted as food will provide 22.7 mg (75,000 iu) of Vit A per 100 grams (3.5 ozs). Liver would be very dangerous to eat on a regular basis. Such high levels of Vit A (over 50,000 per day) are blamed for birth defects, liver damage, hair loss, double vision, headaches, and vomiting. Even so Vit. A (RDA minimum is 3,000 iu/day) is essential for good health. A good balanced diet provides about 6,000 iu of Vit A.

Note (2):
If you want your fruit and vegetables to be high in antioxidants make sure it is fresh food. A sure sign that food is depleted of antioxidants is any sign that it is old, decayed, or rancid.

Note (3):
USA Studies have shown the vitamins are a lot safer than drugs. In a 5 year survey by the American Poison Control Centers (prior to 1997). Zero fatalities were reported for vitamin and mineral supplements, but drugs during this same period caused at least 1200 accidental deaths.

Note (4):
Water soluble vitamins are rapidly excreted from the body so it is almost impossible to have harmful levels. Fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K are also very safe so long as the daily dose rate is safe. Products are usually labeled with these dose rates. Refer to your doctor if you need advice.

Note (5):
All vitamin supplements should be taken with food. Vitamin and mineral dietary supplements work together (they are synergistic) so taken with food there will be a balance which makes the vitamin and mineral dietary supplements more effective.
